Ball, Falcons Keep Clean Sheet at Mercyhurst

BGSU battles Lakers to scoreless draw on Saturday night
ERIE, Pa. – Senior goalkeeper Jason Ball and the Bowling Green State University men's soccer team kept a clean sheet on Saturday night (Sept. 19), as the Falcons battled Mercyhurst University to a scoreless draw.
Ball, making his season debut, made four saves against the Lakers, including a diving stop of a penalty kick with 13 minutes left in regulation.
The Falcons (1-5-2) had advantages of 13-7 in total shot attempts and 6-3 in corner kicks. The Lakers (3-2-3) put four shots on goal to BGSU's three.
Caue Ramos and Tyson McCoy each had three shot attempts to tie for team and game honors. Alvar Silva had three shots for the Lakers, including the PK that was saved by Ball.
In Saturday's match, senior Mads Christensen saw his first action since the regular-season opener nearly a month ago. Christensen, who had missed six-straight matches due to injury, came off the bench to play 28 minutes against the Lakers.
MU 'keeper Christoffer Kalkar made three saves on the night.

The Falcons are next in action on Friday night (Sept. 25), hosting Western Michigan in the Missouri Valley Conference opener. That contest, part of BGSU men's soccer's Alumni Weekend, will begin at 7:00 p.m. at Cochrane Stadium, and admission is free.
