Mike Pechac is the academic coordinator for the BGSU Football Team in his second season with the program.
Pechac’s prior experience includes work in both the coaching and academic aspects of collegiate and high school football over the past 14 years. Most recently, he served as the defensive line coach at Otterbein University. Pechac spent the 2005-2006 season as the defensive quality control coach at The Ohio State University working with the linebackers under current Ohio State defensive coordinator Luke Fickell, a group that featured three future first round NFL draft picks in AJ Hawk, Bobby Carpenter and James Laurinitas. Pechac also spent time on the coaching staffs at Malone College and Hiram College. At Hiram, Pechac also served as the team’s academic coordinator. During Pechac’s time as a high school coach in the state of Ohio, he served as the tight ends coach at Columbus Brookhaven High School. The Bearcats captured the Division II Ohio State Championship -- the first football state championship in school history. Pechac guided a group that featured current New York Jets tight end Jeff Cumberland.
A 1998 graduate of Mount Union College with a degree in physical education, Pechac was a member of two National Championship football teams at Mount Union in 1993 and 1996. A three-year letterman, Pechac captured All-OAC honors in 1996 as a defensive linemen as the Purple Raiders captured the second national championship in school history.
A native of Kent, Ohio, Pechac came to BGSU with his wife Sharmaine and three sons -- Trevon, Kameron and Kristian.
