Chrissy Steffen was hired in February 2023 as the Assistant AD for Student-Athlete Services. Chrissy will oversee the day-to-day operations in SAS and serve as an advisor for Football and other sports.
Steffen came to SAS from BGSU’s Office of Academic Advising & Planning where she advised students from the College of Health & Human Services.
Prior to BGSU, Steffen was the Academic Counselor for football and women’s basketball as well as the coordinator for the young professional program at the University of Illinois (January 2019 – January 2022). While at Illinois, she earned the N4A Kenneth Miles Professional Promise Award.
Steffen also previously served as an Academic Advisor at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, working with women’s basketball, women’s ice hockey and men’s and women’s swimming and diving (June 2016 – January 2019).
Prior to Wisconsin, Steffen was an Assistant Academic Counselor for football, men’s and women’s track and field, and volleyball at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville (2014-2016). During her tenure at the University of Tennessee, she also earned her Master of Science degree in Recreation and Sport Management with a concentration in Sport Management. She was also a participant in the NCAA Emerging Leaders Seminar and winner of the Dr. Joy T. DeSensi Professionalism Award during her time in Knoxville.
Originally from Carmel, Ind., Steffen received her Bachelor of Science degree in Secondary Mathematics Education with a minor as an Intervention Specialist from BGSU in December 2013. During her time at BGSU, she was a student-athlete and two-time team captain on the women’s basketball team that won three Mid-American Conference Championships along with two NCAA and two WNIT appearances.
Steffen is currently pursuing her PhD in Education Policy, Organization & Leadership with a concentration in Higher Education from the University of Illinois.
