James Schmeits joined the Bowling Green State University men’s basketball staff as the Video Coordinator in June 2014.
Schmeits is in charge of editing and exchange of highlight and game film, as well as the filming of daily practices and games.
Prior to coming to BGSU, Schmeits was a graduate manager for two years with the men’s basketball team at Wichita State from 2012-14 where he was in charge of the editing and exchange of both highlight and game film for head coach Greg Marshall and his staff. During his time there, the Shockers posted an overall record of 65-10 over those two years, including starting the 2013-14 season at 35-0 before losing to Kentucky in the NCAA Tournament. The Shockers also made back-to-back trips to the NCAA National Championship Tournament during his two years on staff, which included a Final Four berth in 2012-13.
Schmeits has worked a number of summer basketball camps across the nation including serving as a basketball camp instructor at the University of Texas, University of Florida, Virginia Commonwealth University, University of Nebraska and Wichita State University.
He also was a drill instructor and head coach for three years at the Supreme Court Basketball in Lincoln, Nebraska where he taught kindergarteners to junior high school students the basic basketball fundamentals and skills.
Schmeits graduated with a bachelor's degree in Sport Management in 2009 from Nebraska Wesleyan University in Lincoln, Nebraska. As a student, he served as a Sports Information Intern in 2007 and an Event Management Intern in 2008.
He most recently completed his master’s degree in Sport Management from Wichita State in May 2014.
