Moment #9 Of 2014-15: Men's Soccer Beats West Virginia 3-2 For Berth In MAC Championship Game

For the sixth year in a row, BGSU Athletics will be counting down the top stories of the year leading into the beginning of the fall athletics season. The 2014-15 season was a fantastic year with many triumphs and we get to celebrate those during our summer countdown.

Men's Soccer Beats West Virginia, 3-2, To Return To MAC Championship Game For First Time Since 2003
On Nov. 14 in Akron, Ohio, Max Auden's goal in the first minute of overtime lifted the men's soccer Falcons to a 3-2, come-from-behind win over West Virginia University in the semifinal round contest of the Mid-American Conference Tournament. The epic win, the Falcons' 14th of the season, vaulted the Brown and Orange to the championship match of the league tourney for the first time since 2003. Members of the sophomore class accounted for all three BGSU goals, as Pat Flynn gave the Falcons a 1-0 lead in the first half. The Mountaineers took the lead with just over an hour gone, as Andy Bevin and Jamie Merriam scored just over five minutes apart, but BG got the tying goal on a penalty kick by Jacob Roth, after Roth was taken down in the box with 8:39 left in the second half. Then, Auden took a pass from Flynn and scored from the left side of the six-yard box with 59 seconds gone in the OT period..
