Amy Lienhardt is considered by most to be the best player ever to wear the orange and brown on the softball field.
She had a senior season (1988) unlike any other player in school history hitting .439 (2nd in the nation, best in BG history), with 57 runs scored (2nd in nation, best in BG and MAC history) and 83 hits (5th in the nation, best in BG history). In addition, she set a school and league record with 53 stolen bases, which was a figure that led the nation in 1988.
A Pittsburgh, PA. native, led the Falcons to a 35-23-1 record in 1988, including a 23-8 mark in MAC play.
Also an excellent student, Lienhardt earned first team GTE/CoSIDA Academic All-American honors her senior season with a 3.68 GPA in special education. She is one of only two BG softball players to have earned conference academic honors three times.
