James Gerber

James Gerber was honorable mention All-America on the Converse Team in 1954, and finished his career at BG with 1,495 points. Gerber's career scoring average of 19.4 points per game ranks him fifth following the 2010-11 season. Gerber played for coach Harold Anderson, where he was the leading scorer on the 1951-52 team that finished 17-10. In 1953-54, Gerber finished second in scoring behind All-American Al Bianchi, the Falcons went 17-7 and finished second in the MAC with a 10-3 record. James Gerber sat out his junior season with a knee injury, but was still an All-America mention twice during his career.
Gerber was named team MVP in 1951 and 1952, and led scoring for the Falcons both seasons as well, averaging 20.6 points per game in 27 games played in the 1951-52 season. He averaged 17.3 points per game in 27 games played in the 1950-51 season. Through his stellar career, Gerber was also named to the All-MAC First Team in 1953. He served as the captain of the team under Coach Anderson during the 1952 season, and was named co-captain of the team for the 1953 season.Â
James Gerber was inducted into the BGSU Athletic Hall of Fame in 1992.
