Robert Dobek

Robert Dobek was a 1971 graduate of Cooley High School, who came to Bowling Green after playing junior hockey for the Detroit Junior Wings, and attending one year at Henry Ford Community College. In 1972, he was named to the junior All-America team.
Dobek led the 1972-73 Falcon hockey team in scoring as a sophomore with 63 points to win the Sam Cooper Award. Dobek led the nation with 44 goals as a junior and finished third in scoring with 86 points. He had five hat tricks during the season while earning first team All-CCHA honors. As a senior, Dobek was the CCHA's leading scorer with 79 points, and was awarded the Sam Cooper Award for the third straight year. Upon the conclusion of his career, his 228 points placed him first in BGSU career scoring.
Dobek was named to the Olympic Trial team in the summer of 1975, being one of the top scorers during the trials. He went on to become one of the USA's top performer during the 1976 Olympic games where the team finished fifth.
He was drafted by Minnesota of the NHL, but after the Olympics, he signed with the San Diego Mariners where he played for a season and a half.
