Warren Steller

Warren Steller enrolled at Oberlin College after graduating from Cleveland Lincoln High School. At Oberlin, Steller continued his athletic career in football, basketball, and baseball. His college career was interrupted by a call to the Navy Air Corps in 1918. He returned to Oberlin in 1919 to captain the football team that won the Ohio Conference championship. He is considered one of the greatest defensive players in Oberlin history.
Steller was an assistant coach at Oberlin for a year, before going to Wesleyan University as head basketball and baseball coach. He came to BG in 1924 as athletics director, while also coaching the football and baseball teams. He coached the football team for 11 seasons, baseball for 35 seasons, and was athletics director in 1941.
