Next week, the Falcon teams host the lone home meet of the 1999 campaign, the Mel Brodt Invitational. The women's race will begin at 2:00 p.m. a week from Saturday (Sept. 18), with the men's race starting at 2:45 p.m. and an open race commencing at 3:30 p.m.
The BGSU women's squad enters the season looking to win its fourth Mid-American Conference title in five years. The Falcons captured the 1998 MAC Championship, which was held in Bowling Green. The BG men placed ninth in last year's league meet.
The BGSU women welcome back junior Christine Thompson, who earned All-MAC Second-Team honors by finishing eighth in the conference meet last year. Other returnees who were regulars in the 1998 Falcon lineup include seniors Angie Michael and Libby Mitchell, and Nikki Monroe and junior Lisa Mariea. Additionally, the Falcons regain the services of senior Jessica LaFene. LaFene, an all-league first-teamer in 1997, redshirted the 1998 campaign due to injury.
On the men's side, senior Dan Flaute heads a group of four returning letterwinners from last season. Juniors Kreg Hatfield and Aaron Usher and sophomore Rob Glatz look to return to the team's lineup in 1999.
