Falcons Win In Double OT At Marshall
December 30, 1999 | Men's Soccer
Oct. 15, 1999
Chris Dore's goal at the 119:40 mark of the second overtime period propelled the Bowling Green men's soccer team to 2-1 victory over Mid-American Conference rival Marshall to improve their record to 5-7-1 overall and 1-1-1 in conference play. Marshall drops to 4-8-1 overall and 2-2-1 in the MAC.
The Falcons struck first at the 25:52 mark when senior Jason Bryant scored his first goal of the season off an assist by Dore. The defense took over from there until the 81:42 mark of the match when Marshall freshman Dennis Ahebwa fired in a shot from 35 yards out to knot the score at one.
In the extra session it was Dore beating Marshall keeper Taly Goode with a shot from the top of the box in the far right corner, winning the match with just 20 seconds remaining. The match-winner was Dore's eighth goal of the 1999 campaign.
Both goalkeepers were impressive in the match as Falcon senior Ty Fowler came up with seven saves, while Herd netminder Taly Goode was credited with seven as well.
The Falcons return home to Cochrane Field on Sunday against Northern Illinois with kickoff set for 1 p.m.
