Falcons Season Ends With Loss At Northern Illinois

The Bowling Green State University men's soccer team had its 1999 campaign come to an end with a 4-2 loss at Northern Illinois in a Mid-American Conference quarterfinal match on Friday afternoon. BG ends the season with an 8-10-1 record while the Huskies improve to 11-8-0.
The No. 3 seeded Falcons took an early 1-0 lead on Chris Dore's goal at the 12:09 mark. Dore's ninth of the year was assisted by Matt Lyons.
NIU evened the match at 14:33 on a goal by Alex D'Orsi. Huskie Jason Ryder put NIU in front 2-1 at the 48:41 mark off an assist from D'Orsi.
BG junior Gene Braxton scored his third of the campaign at the 69:08 mark off a cross from Ben Vaccaro. It was Vaccaro's first point of the season.
NIU scored twice in the final 15 minutes with D'Orsi assisting on both goals. Ryder tallied his second of the match at 76:19, while Robby Berkley concluded the scoring with a goal at the 84:26 mark.
BG senior goalkeeper Ty Fowler made six saves, including five in the second half, while NIU goalkeeper Rasih Pala was credited with six saves.
