Women's Track Team Begins 2000 Indoor Season

The Bowling Green State University women's track team opened the 2000 season by participating in the non-scoring Michigan State Quadrangular on Saturday.
The Falcons had three individuals capture their event.
Junior Lori Williams (Erie, Pa./McDowell) took the weight throw with a toss of 52-0 while freshman Mary Willems (Huntington, Ind./North) was the winner of the shot put with a best of 43-5.
Those two took turns placing second behind their teammate in the two throwing events with Williams second in the shot put with a toss of 42-1 1/2 and Willems placing second in the weight throw with a best of 45-9 1/4.
The other winners for the Falcons was freshman Joy Echler (Montpelier, Ohio) in the 800 with a time of 2:25.6.
Other second-place finishes included senior Andrea Cook (Marysville, Ohio) in the pole vault where she cleared 10-0, freshman Nicole Carter (Nicholesville, Ky./E. Jessamine) in the high jump clearing 4-11 3/4, and sophomore Jovone Houpe (Gahanna, Ohio/Lincoln) in the 400 with a time of 1:03.5.
Other top four finishes included sophomore Erin Coleman (Fostoria, Ohio/St. Wendelin) in the pole vault (3rd, 8-6), junior Bethany Kohler (Oregon, Ohio/Clay) in the 55 hurdles (4th, 10.28), junior Christine Thompson (Amherst, Ohio/Steele) in the mile (4th, 5:17.6), freshman Zukeya Graves in the 200 with a time of 25.73 which was good for third place, junior Lisa Mariea (Toledo, Ohio/Start) in the 3,000 (3rd, 10:39.92), senior Nikki Monroe (Elida, Ohio) in the 3,000 (4th, 10:48.15), junior Jennifer Easterlin (Coldwater, Ohio) in the pole vault (4th, 8-6), and freshman Jamie Perryman (Cleveland Heights, Ohio/Hawken) in the high jump (4th, 4-11 3/4).
