The Bowling Green State University men's tennis team, after opening the dual portion of the 1999-2000 schedule on a successful note, will continue dual-match play this weekend with a trip to Columbus. The Falcons of coach Jay Harris will take on Ohio State in a Saturday (Jan. 29) evening match. That contest is scheduled to begin at 7:00 p.m. at the Racquet Club of Columbus.LAST WEEK:
The Falcons opened the dual portion of the 1999-2000 slate with a convincing 7-0 victory over Sinclair Community College Friday (Jan. 21). The match was held at Shadow Valley in Toledo.The Brown and Orange posted straight-set wins at every singles flight, and captured all three doubles matches as well. Every BG singles competitor won at least one set by a 6-0 score. Sophomore Vitek Wild recorded a 6-0, 6-1 win at the top flight, while freshman Nicolas Lopez-Acevedo did not allow his Sinclair foe to win a single game all evening at the second level.
Nicolas' twin brother, Micael Lopez-Acevedo, won at the third flight, while sophomore Ed Kuresman, junior Brandon Gabel and senior Sonny Huynh also were victorious in singles play.
In doubles action, BG's teams consisted of Wild and Gabel at the top flight, Micael Lopez-Acevedo and sophomore Mike Kossoff at #2, and Nicolas Lopez-Acevedo and sophomore Ben Ashford at the third level.
