BOWLING GREEN, Ohio -
UP NEXT: The Bowling Green State University men's tennis team will be home for a pair of dual matches this Saturday (Feb. 5). The Falcons of coach Jay Harris will take on Butler and IUPUI this weekend. BGSU will host the BU Bulldogs in a 10:30 a.m. match at Central Tennis & Fitness in Toledo. The Brown and Orange will meet IUPUI in a 5:00 p.m. contest. That dual will be held at the Laurel Hill Swim & Tennis Club, also located in Toledo.
LAST WEEK: The Falcons fell by a 6-1 count at Ohio State Saturday night (Jan. 29). BGSU fell in all three doubles matches, although two were close, and dropped five of the six singles flights. The match was held at the Racquet Club of Columbus.
The Buckeyes, who defeated nationally-ranked (#50) South Alabama a week ago, were tested in doubles action by the Brown and Orange. BGSU's top team of Brandon Gabel and Vitek Wild lost to OSU's Chris Porter and Andrew Carlson by an 8-6 score. The number-two Falcon team, Nicolas Lopez-Acevedo and Geoff Hiscox, also lost by just an 8-6 score. The two Falcon freshmen fell to OSU's Vincent Ng and Jon Scale. BGSU's third doubles team was comprised of sophomore Mike Kossoff and freshman Micael Lopez-Acevedo.
In singles play, Hiscox defeated Ng in straight sets to earn the only BGSU point on the night. Hiscox competed at the fourth flight.
BGSU's other singles competitors were Wild (flight #1), Nicolas (#2) and Micael Lopez-Acevedo (#3), Kossoff (#5) and sophomore Ed Kuresman (#6).
