EAST LANSING, Mich. - The Bowling Green women's tennis team captured all but one individual flight en route to a 6-1 victory at Michigan State Saturday afternoon (Jan. 29). The Falcons of head coach Penny Dean won five of the six singles flights and swept the doubles play.
BGSU, now 2-0 in dual play, started the day with doubles victories from the teams of Abby Bratton and Erika Wasilewski (flight #1), Deidee Bissinger and Meghan Rhodes (#2) and Devon Bissinger and Tracy Howitt (#3). Bratton and Wasilewski won by an 8-2 score, while the other two teams recorded 8-4 wins.
In singles play, Wasilewski earned a three-set victory at the top flight, while Rhodes and Deidee Bissinger captured straight-set wins at flights three and four, respectively. Devon Bissinger won a three-set match at the fifth flight, while Tracy Howitt needed the minimum two sets to record a win at the sixth flight.
The Falcons return home for a Sunday (Jan. 30) match against Illinois at Chicago. That dual, scheduled for 10:00 a.m., will be held at the Shadow Valley Tennis Club in Toledo.
