Men's Golf Tied For Fourth After First Day At Austin Peay

The Bowling Green State University men's golf team is tied for fourth after the opening day of the 2000 Austin Peay Precept Invitational in Clarksville, Tenn.
Austin Peay leads with a team score of 298, while Samford is in second place at 304. Tennessee Tech is third at 306, while the Falcons are tied with Mercer at 309. Evansville and Oakland are tied for sixth at 311, with IUPUI in eighth at 312. Belmont is ninth at 325 with Montevallo 10th at 330.
Individually for BG, Brian Gerken had a one-over-par 73. Senior Jon Smarrelli shot a 78, while Justin Gillham and Adam Balls each carded a 79. Andy Miller had an 82.
The final 18 holes will be played on Tuesday at the Clarksville Country Club, site of the opening round as well.
