ANN ARBOR, Mich. - The Bowling Green State University women's tennis team will wrap up the fall portion of the 2000-2001 schedule over the next few days, as selected members of the Falcon squad head to Ann Arbor, Mich., for the ITA Midwest Regional Championships. The tournament runs today through Tuesday (Nov. 2-7).
The qualifying singles round is scheduled for Thursday and Friday (Nov. 2-3), and a pair of Falcons will compete. Senior Erika Wasilewski will take on Western Michigan's Melanie Remynse, while classmate Abby Bratton will face Michelle Webb of Illinois.
The qualifying doubles play also is set for Thursday and Friday, and the team of seniors Wasilewski and Meghan Rhodes will be in action, taking on Michigan's Marya Farah and Alison Sinclair.
Rhodes was placed in the main draw for singles, and will begin play on Saturday (Nov. 4). She will take on one of the survivors from the qualifying rounds.
Similarly, the doubles team of Bratton and junior Devon Bissinger will compete in the main draw, beginning Saturday. That duo will take on Tanja Sukovic and Kris Tiedt of Northern Illinois.
Following the regional action, the Falcons of head coach Penny Dean will be idle until Jan. 19. On that date, BGSU will return to Ann Arbor for a dual match against Michigan.
