Bowling Green, Ohio - -Bowling Green State University men's basketball coach Dan Dakich has announced that Cory Eyink (sounds like EYENK), a 6-7 1/2, 220 lb., forward from Marion Local High School in Maria Stein, Ohio, and Leon Petty, a 6-4,185 lb. guard from Indianapolis Cathedral HS each have signed a national letter of intent to attend BGSU and play basketball for the Falcons, next year.
Eyink is a three-year letterman for Coach Keith Westrick's Flyers. Last year, he helped Marion Local to a 19-1 record and a No. 3 ranking in the state. He averaged 18.3 points per game, 9.3 rebounds and shot 53 percent from the field, including a 37 percent mark from three-point range, and 73 percent from the line. He was named a third-team All-State selection, League and Grand Lake Player of the Year, first-team All-District and first-team All-Dayton Area.
Petty is a three-year letterman for Coach Scott Hicks' Fighting Irish. A first-team All-City selection, he averaged 17.3 points, eight rebounds, four assists and 1.5 steals as a junior. Last season, he earned All-State honors and was a preseason All-State pick earlier this fall. His best game a year ago was a 30-point, 11-rebound effort against Indianapolis Manual High School.
The Falcons begin their fourth season under Dakich Tuesday, November 21st when they play Evansville at Anderson Arena. BGSU will host Pella Windows this Saturday, November 11 in its final exhibition game of the season.
