Gymnastics Team Ends Home Season With Win

The Bowling Green State University women's gynastics team closed out the home portion of its 2000 schedule with a pair of wins in a three-team meet Saturday night at the Eppler Complex. Bowling Green won the meet with a score of 193.950 while Rutgers was second with 192.825 and Cornell was a distant third at 183.950.
Sophomore Marny Oestreng, the defending NCAA champion in the floor exercise, won all four individual events and the all-around to lead the Falcons to the win.
Oestreng won the vault with a score of 9.875, the bars with a 9.825, the beam with a 9.800, and the floor exercise with a 9.900. Her all-around total of 39.400 was also the best at the meet.
Jamie Kent had the lone second-place finish by a BG gymnast with a score of 9.750 in the vault to finish behind Oestreng.
Mindy Untch was third in the beam with a score of 9.650 and Amber Curry was third in the floor exercise with a 9.825.
Bowling Green had the highest team score of the three teams in all but the bars where Rutgers had a 48.325 total to 48.225 for the Falcons.
Bowling Green is now 5-5 overall on the season.
