BOWLING GREEN, Ohio -
UP NEXT: The Bowling Green State University women's tennis team, after beginning the dual portion of the 1999-2000 schedule with a 4-0 record, will host DePaul in a Sunday (Feb. 13) match. The Falcons of coach Penny Dean will host the Blue Demons in an 11:30 a.m. start at Shadow Valley in Toledo.
The Falcons are 4-0 in dual play for the first time since the 1992-93 season. That team started the dual portion of the schedule by winning four consecutive matches. No BGSU team has won the first five duals of the season since the 1982-83 squad began the year with a 6-0 record.
DEAN GETS 150TH VICTORY: The Falcons' win over Indiana State Saturday (Feb. 5) marked the 150th win of head coach Penny Dean's career. Dean, 104-82 in her 10th year at BG, is now 150-126 in her 14th season as a collegiate head coach.
LAST WEEK: The Falcons recorded a 5-2 win over Indiana State Saturday (Feb. 5), in a match held at Laurel Hill in Toledo.
The Falcons captured the doubles point with a pair of wins. At the top flight, juniors Abby Bratton and Erika Wasilewski captured an 8-4 decision. Sophomore Devon Bissinger and junior Tracy Howitt earned an 8-6 win at the third flight.
In singles action, four Falcons emerged victorious, including Bratton at the second flight. Bratton's three-set victory came after she dropped the second set in a tiebreaker.
Junior Meghan Rhodes and senior Deidee Bissinger earned wins at the third and fourth levels, respectively, while Howitt captured a victory at flight six.
For Deidee Bissinger, the win was the 71st singles victory and the 137th overall triumph of her career. She ranks fourth on both career lists, needing just eight singles wins and seven overall wins to earn the top spots.
