Women's Tennis Falls To Marshall, 6-1

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - The Bowling Green women's tennis team came out on the short end of a 6-1 score vs. visiting Marshall University Saturday afternoon (March 25). The Mid-American Conference dual match was held at Keefe Courts on the BGSU campus.
The Thundering Herd, picked to finish second in the MAC in the preseason poll conducted by the coaches, won five of the six singles flights, and took the doubles point. BGSU's only win came at the sixth flight, courtesy of junior Tracy Howitt.
Three of the five MU singles wins required three sets. At the third flight, BG junior Erika Wasilewski fell in a third-set tiebreaker to Kelly Peller, while Falcon senior Deidee Bissinger lost a 6-4 third set to Sheela Cabiling at the fourth flight. Sophomore Devon Bissinger fell by a 7-5 count to MU's Karolina Pierko at the fifth singles level.
In doubles action, the second-flight team of Deidee Bissinger and junior Meghan Rhodes posted BG's lone win, downing Peller and Pierko in a tiebreaker.
BGSU drops to 6-6 overall and 1-1 in MAC play. The Falcons are next in action on Friday (March 31), beginning a five-match road swing with a dual at Akron.
