AKRON, Ohio - The Bowling Green women's tennis team improved to 2-1 in Mid-American Conference play with a 7-0 road win over Akron Friday (March 31). The match was held in Akron, Ohio.
The Falcons did not lose a match against the Zips, who had just five players available due to injuries. Juniors Abby Bratton, Meghan Rhodes and Erika Wasilewski won at flights one through three, respectively, for the Brown and Orange. Sophomore Devon Bissinger captured her match at the fourth flight, while junior Tracy Howitt defeated UA's Marti Conner by identical 6-0 scores at the fifth level. Senior Beth Wilson won by default at the sixth singles level.
In doubles action, BGSU's winning teams included Bratton and Wasilewski at the top flight and the Rhodes/Devon Bissinger duo at the second level. Wilson and senior Kelly Dredge won by default at the third flight.
The Falcons, now 7-6 on the season, head to Buffalo for a Saturday (April 1) MAC match against the Bulls. Akron drops to 0-10 on the year.
