CINCINNATI, Ohio - The host Cincinnati Bearcats captured four singles flights and two doubles matches en route to a 6-3 victory over the Bowling Green women's tennis team Saturday night (March 4). The match was held at the Queen City Racquet Club.
The Falcons, now 5-3 in dual-match play, got wins from the Bissinger sisters in singles action. Senior co-captain Deidee Bissinger won in straight sets at the fourth flight, while sophomore Devon Bissinger captured her fifth-flight match in the minimum two sets.
Deidee Bissinger's win was the 142nd total victory of her career. She is in second place on the school career list for combined wins, and needs just one more victory to tie Cindy Mikolajewski (1994-97) for the BGSU record.
In doubles action, the team of Devon Bissinger and senior Beth Wilson won in a tiebreaker at the third flight.
The Falcons of head coach Penny Dean are now idle until March 17, when they take on host UNLV in Las Vegas. The following day, BG will face Boston College in a neutral-site match. BGSU then returns home to face Miami (March 24) and Marshall (March 25) at Keefe Courts.
