Falcons Head To Kentucky For Two Matches

UP NEXT: The Bowling Green State University men's tennis team, after splitting a pair of matches last weekend, will continue a four-match road swing with a pair of dual matches this weekend. The Falcons of coach Jay Harris will head to Lexington, Ky., to face Kentucky in a Friday (March 10) match which will begin at 7:00 p.m.
The following day (March 11), the Brown and Orange will be in Richmond, Ky., to face Eastern Kentucky. First serve is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. BGSU's next home match is scheduled for March 17 against Wright State.
LAST WEEK: The Falcons split a pair of matches late last week. BGSU won a 5-2 decision at Kalamazoo College Thursday (March 2) before falling to nationally-ranked DePaul, 6-1, Friday (March 3).
Against Kalamazoo, the Falcons captured four singles flights and two doubles levels. Sophomore Vitek Wild won at the top flight, with a straight-sets decision over KC's Dan Harding. Classmates Ed Kuresman and Mike Kossoff recorded victories at the third and fifth flights, respectively, while freshman Nicolas Lopez-Acevedo won at the fourth flight and was part of a triumphant number-three doubles duo, along with Kuresman. Senior Brandon Gabel and freshman Geoff Hiscox downed their foes at the second doubles flight.
At DePaul, the host Blue Demons won five singles and two doubles flights. DePaul entered the match ranked 67th in the nation in the WingspanBank.com Collegiate Tennis Rankings.
Wild posted a big victory for the Brown and Orange, downing DU's John Cheregi in straight sets at the top flight. Wild recorded the win by scores of 7-5 and 6-3 over Cheregi, ranked 10th in the region. In doubles, only BG's third-flight tandem of Kuresman and Nicolas Lopez-Acevedo emerged victorious.
