CLEVELAND, Ohio - Bowling Green's Jessie Milosek has been named the Mid-American Conference Softball Pitcher of the Week, the league office has announced. Milosek, a sophomore, earns the honor for the first time in her career.
Milosek went 2-0 with a save and an earned-run average of 0.44 last week, all in MAC play. She threw her first collegiate no-hitter in Saturday's (April 22) 2-0 win over Kent. KSU's only baserunner of that game came on a two-out walk in the fourth inning.
In the nightcap of Saturday's KSU doubleheader, Milosek earned a save with two innings of two-hit relief as the Falcons won by a 3-1 count. Earlier in the week, she had surrendered just one earned run in a complete-game win over Miami.
Milosek enters the week with a 9-3 record and a 1.01 ERA on the season. In MAC games, she is 4-1 with a 1.33 ERA. All four of her conference starts were complete-game wins. In 11 starts this season, Milosek has four shutouts and 10 complete games.
Milosek's award marks the third consecutive week that a Falcon received a MAC honor. Two weeks ago, junior 2B Angie Domschot was the MAC's Player of the Week, and junior 1B Nikki Rouhana earned that same honor last week.
Milosek was a co-winner of the MAC Pitcher-of-the-Week honor, along with Northern Illinois hurler Christy Dalton.
Additionally, the latest NCAA statistics were released Tuesday (April 25) morning, and Milosek was ranked 33rd nationally in earned-run average.
The Falcons, 24-12 overall and 9-3 in MAC action, head to Oxford for a Tuesday (April 25) doubleheader at Miami. First pitch of the first game is scheduled for 2:00 p.m.
