TOLEDO, Ohio - Ball State recorded a convincing win over the Bowling Green men's tennis team in MAC Championships play Friday afternoon (April 28). The Cardinals won, 4-0, in the semifinal round at the University of Toledo Tennis Courts.
The second-seeded Falcons end the season with a dual-match record of 16-8. Third-seeded Ball State, now 17-8, advances to Saturday's championship match vs. #1 seed Western Michigan.
The Cards won at the second and third flights in doubles play to capture the doubles point.
In singles action, BSU's Ryan Baxter downed sophomore Vitek Wild at the top flight, while classmate Ed Kuresman suffered a loss to the Cards' Edgardo Rivera at the fifth level. At #6, Ball State's Eric Butorac downed junior Brandon Gabel.
The Falcons have just one senior on the 1999-2000 squad. BGSU's singles lineup vs. Ball State included two freshmen, three sophomores and a junior, while the doubles lineup featured three frosh, two sophs and one junior.
