BG Women Place Fifth In Jacoby Standings

Bowling Green State University finished in a fifth-place tie with Eastern Michigan at 56.5 points in the 1999-2000 Mid-American Conference Jacoby Standings.
The Jacoby Trophy is an annual trophy named for former MAC Commissioner Fred Jacoby, award to the MAC university with the six-highest finishes in the 12 women's sports for which the MAC sponsors championships. The top-six sports per university are to be counted, however, three of the six must be basketball, volleyball and softball.
The Falcons, four-time winners of the Jacoby Trophy (1988-92-93-94), finished behind Ball State (65.5 points), Kent State (64), Western Michigan (60.5) and Miami (57.5). Seventh through 13th place consisted of Akron (54.5), Central Michigan (51), Ohio (49.5), Toledo (44), Northern Illinois (41.5), Marshall (35) and Buffalo (33.5).
Softball tied for the East Division title while finishing tied for third overall. Volleyball was second in the East Division and fourth overall. Basketball placed third in the East Division and tied for fifth overall.
Women's tennis tied for third in both the regular season and MAC Championship, while golf and gymnastics each finished fifth in their conference championship.
Swimming was seventh at the MAC Championship, while both indoor and outdoor track placed eighth. Soccer and cross country both placed 10th.
