Bowling Green State University senior center Eric Curl (Livonia, Mich./Stevenson HS) underwent surgery today to repair a broken fifth metatarsil on his left foot. The 6-2, 280 lb., offensive lineman suffered the injury last week during practice. Curl, the team's lone returning starter on the offensive line, will likely miss the next three-to-four weeks.
"Eric is certainly an important part of this football team and we expect him to play a big role this season," said BGSU Coach Gary Blackney. "However, this presents an opportunity for someone to come in and make a strong impression with the coaching staff prior to the start of conference play."
Prior to starting every game in 1998 and 1999, Curl broke his right foot in 1997 after starting the first two games of the season. A fifth-year senior, Curl was a redshirt in 1996.
