The Bowling Green State University women's soccer team suffered a 4-3 setback to the Michigan Hawks, a very strong club team, at home on August 19.
The Falcons led 2-1 at halftime on goals by Jill Conover and Jamie Eshleman. "We played very well in the first half," said head coach Andy Richards.
Eshleman notched her second of the match in the second half, but the Hawks rallied for three goals for the victory.
Erika Flanders played the first half in goal for BG, while Ashley Beel played the entire second half. Both goalkeepers made crucial saves according to Richards.
"We lost our way with many substitutions in the second half," said Richards, "it spoiled our rhythm. We didn't do as good of job keeping possession in the second half."
Bowling Green's "real" season begins this Friday in the Kent Classic (Kent, Ohio) when the Falcons face St. Bonaventure at 2:00 p.m.
