BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - The Bowling Green State University men's basketball will face a challenging schedule during the 2000-2001 campaign as they begin their fourth season under head coach Dan Dakich. The 2000 regular season champions of the Mid-American Conference have posted a 40-18 record over the last two years, including a 22-8 mark last season.
The Falcons will play defending national champion Michigan State at the Palace of Auburn Hills on December 27. That game is part of a doubleheader which also features Wright State vs. Oakland. In addition, BGSU will visit Michigan on December 13, with the Wolverines scheduled to come to BG next season.
Other non-conference highlights include a season-opening home game with Evansville from the Missouri Valley Conference on November 21. In addition, Duquesne from the Atlantic 10 is scheduled to visit Anderson Arena on December 2. The Falcons have a 16-game winning streak at home, the 10th-longest active streak in the country. Other non-conference road games include a visit to North Carolina-Wilmington, a 2000 NCAA Tournament participant, and a trip to Illinois State on December 6.
The MAC season will see the Falcons opening up at Northern Illinois on January 3, while they close out the regular season with four of five games in "The House That Roars".
