Men's Cross Country Wins Mel Brodt Invitational

The Bowling Green State University men's cross country squad won the 11-team 2000 Mel Brodt Invitational on the BGSU campus Saturday morning.
The Falcons had a team score of 33 to easily outdistance Cincinnati (80), Siena Heights (83), Heidelberg (92) and Wright State (112). The sixth-place team was Xavier (164) and the Musketeers were followed by Ohio Northern (174), Windsor (192), Toledo (196), Findlay (216) and Tri-State (262).
Leading the way for BG was junior Tom Kutter (Eaton, Ohio/Eaton) who placed third in a time of 25:30. Other top performances were turned in by freshman Paul Niedzwiecki (Adrian, Mich./Adrian) who placed fourth (25:42), junior Rob Glatz (Amherst, Ohio/Steele) who placed seventh (25:51), sophomore Dave Larson (Covington, Ohio/Covington) who placed eighth (25:52), fifth-year senior Kreg Hatfield (Circleville, Ohio/Circleville) who placed 11th (26:10), freshman Steve Blasko (Broadview Heights, Ohio) who placed 16th (26:35) and junior Austin Chapin (Norwalk, Ohio/Norwalk) who placed 17th in a time of 26:39.
The BG men's cross country team will be idle until they compete on Sept. 30 in the Hagan Stone Classic in Greensboro, North Carolina.
