Hockey Falls At Nebraska Omaha, 3-2

The Bowling Green State University hockey team suffered its second consecutive 3-2 setback at the University of Nebraska Omaha on Saturday night.
The Mavericks took a 1-0 lead 9:43 into the contest on a goal by Jason Jaworski. Jaworski's first collegiate goal was assisted by Jason White.
BG scored the equalizer with 1:26 remaining in the opening stanza when Greg Day scored from just outside the crease during a Falcon power-play. Day's team-leading 15th goal was assisted by Marc Barlow and D'Arcy McConvey. With the "helper", Barlow extended his assist streak to four games.
The Falcons took their first lead of the weekend with 2:17 left in the middle period as Ryan Murphy scored a four-on-three power-play goal. Murphy's 12th of the campaign was assisted by Day and McConvey. Murphy has now scored eight goals in the last eight contests.
BG goalie Tyler Masters stopped all 16 Maverick shots in the second period.
UNO's David Brisson scored a four-on-four goal 3:46 into the third period and then scored the game-winner with 1:26 left in regulation. Andrew Wong assisted on both third period Maverick goals.
Masters turned aside 37 UNO shots, while Maverick netminder Dan Ellis was credited with 18 saves. BG scored on two of its seven power-play chances, while stopping all six Nebraska Omaha man-advantage opportunities. The Falcons have now scored a power-play goal in seven consecutive games.
The Falcons head home with a 6-12-4 overall record and a 3-9-4 mark in the CCHA. UNO is now 13-10-1 overall and 8-7-1 in the league. BG has an 0-6 mark in games decided by one goal this season and a 6-8-3 record when allowing three goals or less.
BG completes its six-game road trip with a 3-3 mark. The Falcons have played 12 of their last 16 games away from the BGSU Ice Arena and have travelled 11,500 miles with trips to Northern Michigan, Ohio State, Alaska Fairbanks, Mercyhurst/Niagara, Princeton and Nebraska Omaha during the two six-game road trips.
In other CCHA action on Saturday, Miami blanked Ferris State 1-0, Michigan skated past Ohio State 6-2, Notre Dame and Western Michigan finished in 3-3 (OT) tie, while the Michigan State at Lake Superior contest was postponed due to Zamboni problems.
The conference standings show Michigan State in first place with 23 points. The Spartans are followed by Western Michigan and Michigan (21), Northern Michigan, Ohio State, Miami and Nebraska Omaha (17), Alaska Fairbanks (13), Lake Superior (12), Ferris State (11), Bowling Green (10) and Notre Dame (9).
