TOLEDO, Ohio - The Bowling Green State University men's tennis team capped a perfect day with a 7-0 victory over Youngstown State University Saturday (Jan. 27). The victory was the third of the day for the Falcons at Shadow Valley in Toledo.
Brandon Gabel, a Toledo native and the Falcons' lone senior, captured a victory at the top singles flight, and teamed with sophomore Nicolas Lopez-Acevedo for a win at the #1 doubles flight. As a team, the Brown and Orange lost a total of just 11 games to the Penguins.
Junior Ed Kuresman won at the second flight, while sophomore Micael Lopez-Acevedo was triumphant at the third level. Neither freshman Nick Moxley or Nicolas Lopez-Acevedo lost a game in their matches at the fourth and fifth flights, respectively.
The Falcons got a shutout win from juniors Mike Kossoff and Vitek Wild at the second doubles flight.
The Falcons of head coach Jay Harris, now 3-0 in dual-match play, will play the next four matches away from home, beginning with a Friday (Feb. 2) match at Xavier. That contest is scheduled to begin at 4:00 p.m.
