BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - The Bowling Green State University men's cross country team will head to Ypsilanti, Mich., for Saturday's (Oct. 27) Mid-American Conference Championships. The league meet, hosted by Eastern Michigan University, will be held at the Eagle Crest Golf Course, with the women's race beginning at 11:00 a.m. and the men's race set for a noon start.
BGSU finished sixth in the 12-team race last year, and Tom Kutter placed 12th in that race to earn All-MAC Second-Team honors. Kutter, a senior this year, has been the top Falcon finisher in two of the four races in which he has competed this fall.
Sophomore Justin Perez has been the first Falcon to cross the line in each of the team's last two races, while freshman Grant Shadden was the individual winner at BGSU's season-opening dual meet at Ohio.
Seniors Rob Glatz and Chad Kunkle and juniors Andy Artiaga and Dave Larson are scheduled to join Kutter, Perez and Shadden in competing for the Falcons.
BGSU has won two team championships, capturing the conference title in both 1969 and 1995. Individually, the Falcons have had five champions and four runner-up finishers in the history of the MAC race. The Falcons' last individual winner was Chris Koehler in 1981. Brad Schaser placed second overall in '95, the year of the last BGSU title.
