Women's Tennis Competes At Fall MAC Indoor

The Bowling Green State University women's tennis team completed the fall portion of the 2001-02 season by competing in the Fall MAC Invitational in Kalamazoo, Mich. The three-day event (Nov. 9-11), hosted by Western Michigan University, featured eight Mid-American Conference teams. No team scores were kept.
Sophomore Lisa Maloney dropped her opening match at the third singles flight, but rebounded to win the next two contests and capture the back draw.
Alyson Gabel won her first-round match in the flight 2 singles before succumbing,
Classmate Jessica Johnson lost her first match, but won her next contest before losing in the back-draw final.
In doubles, the team of Maloney and Devon Bissinger won their opening match at the top flight, before falling to the eventual flight champions from WMU.
At the third flight, Laura Kokinda and Johnson lost their first contest before advancing to the final of the back draw.
In the four-team fourth flight, Cameron Benjamin and Lindsey Mix won their first contest, but lost to an Eastern Michigan team in the final.
Host WMU took home five of the 10 flights of competition, including three doubles flights.
The Falcons will begin the spring portion of the schedule on Jan. 20, 2002, with a dual match at Indiana University.
