CLEVELAND, Ohio - Bowling Green State University women's basketball senior Francine Miller has been named the Mid-American Conference Player of the Week, the league office has announced. Miller earns a MAC weekly P-O-W award for the second time in her Falcon career.
Miller, a native of Kalida, Ohio, earned the distinction after scoring a game-high 26 points in the Falcons' season-opening 71-61 win at Youngstown State Saturday (Nov. 17). Miller's 9-of-20 shooting effort included a 5-of-9 performance from three-point range. She added six rebounds and a pair of steals in the win.
Miller now has 1,105 points in her BGSU career, and is the MAC's active career scoring leader. A choice to the Preseason All-MAC Team, she now has 1,105 career points, good for 13th in BGSU history. Her points-per-game average of 13.98 ranks her third on that school career list.
The Falcons of first-year head coach Curt Miller continue a stretch of six games in 13 days to open the season with a Tuesday (Nov. 20) game at the University of Detroit Mercy. Tipoff for that contest is 7:00 p.m. at UDM's Calihan Hall. The next day, the team will leave for Boulder, Colo., and a pair of games at the Coors Classic. BGSU will meet the host school, nationally-ranked Colorado, in Friday (Nov. 23) action, before taking on either Houston or Yale the next day (Nov. 24). BGSU's home opener is Tuesday, Nov. 27, vs. Eastern Kentucky.
