The Falcons 8-1 start equals the best ever for a non-Harold Anderson coached team at BGSU. The 1989-90 squad also started 8-1.
The seven-game winning streak is the longest under Coach Dakich.
The win at Evansville is the first for BGSU on a home floor of a Missouri Valley school. BGSU lost in 1999 at Northern Iowa and in 2000 at Illinois State.
With BGSU ahead 51-50 with 13:14 remaining, the Falcon defense held the Purple Aces to one field goal for the next 11:39 and outscored Evansville 29-14.
It was the fourth time this season that BGSU rallied from a deficit in the second half (46-44, 15:13) to win a game.
Keith McLeod tied his career-high with 33 points. He is now 16th on the Falcons career scoring list with 1,331 points. McLeod also equaled a career-high with 20 field goal attempts.
Jabari Mattox came off the bench and grabbed a career-high six rebounds and equaled his career-high with two field goals. The Falcon bench contributed 24 points and 14 rebounds and shot 7/12 (58.3) from the field and 10 of 10 from the line.
The Falcons established season-highs with 31 free throws in 34 attempts. BGSU also was whistled for a season-high 32 fouls sending Evansville to the line 43 times.
