BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - The NCAA has released the latest women's basketball statistics, and Bowling Green State University is listed among the leaders in several categories. The NCAA statistics are current through games of Monday, Feb. 26.
Individually, senior Angie Farmer (Wayland, Mich./Union) has burst into the national rankings for free-throw percentage. In fact, Farmer leads the nation in that category, with a free-throw success rate of .949. She has made 56 charity tosses in 59 attempts this season.
As a team, the Falcons are listed in a pair of three-point categories.
Through 26 games, the Falcons are sinking three-point field goals at a rate of 7.0 per game, having made a total of 181. That average is good for 13th in the nation. BGSU set a new NCAA record in that category last year, sinking 9.25 treys per game.
The Falcons are ranked 28th in the country in three-point field-goal percentage, with a .368 success rate.
The Falcons of head coach Dee Knoblauch will take an overall record of 10-16 and a 6-9 Mid-American Conference slate into tonight's (Feb. 28) regular-season finale'. BGSU will host Miami University. Tipoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. at venerable Anderson Arena.
Should the Falcons defeat Miami tonight, or should Western Michigan lose to Eastern Michigan this evening, BGSU would clinch the eighth seed for the MAC Tournament and host a tourney first-round game. If the Falcons host a MAC Tournament first-round contest, tip time would be 4:00 p.m. Saturday (March 3) at Anderson.
