The Bowling Green State University women's cross country team posted a second-place finish at the 11-team Mel Brodt Invitational Saturday (Sept. 15). The Falcons, in the team's lone home event of the 2001 season, finished second with a score of 55 points. Xavier University won the meet with a team total of 38 points.
Individually, junior Joy Echler was BGSU's top finisher, placing second among 91 individuals with a time of 18:14. XU's Kerry Hils won the meet with a 17:56 result.
Other BGSU finishers included senior Sarah Lohrbach, who was seventh overall (18:57), freshmen Melissa Krueger (14th, 19:15) and Elise Gould (15th, 19:17), juniors Christy Paine (17th, 19:18) and Cyndi Bostdorff (21st, 19:31), freshman Nicole Suitor (39th, 20:28), sophomore Amber Culp (54th, 21:00) and junior Kristin Spicer (55th, 21:01).
