BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - The Bowling Green State University cross country teams will head east this weekend, as both the men's and women's squads will compete in the Br. John "Paddy" Doyle Meet of Champions this Saturday morning (Sept. 29). The races will be held at Van Cortlandt Park in the Bronx, N.Y., with Iona College serving as the host school.
Both of Saturday's races feature a number of strong teams. The list of teams scheduled to run in the men's race includes six teams receiving votes in the latest Mondo/NCAA Division I national poll. That group is headed by seventh-ranked Villanova and the 17th-ranked host school. Three teams in the race -- Villanova (6th), Iona (15th) and Dartmouth (25th) -- finished among the top 25 at last year's NCAA Championship.
On the women's side, five meet entrants are listed in the latest FinishLynx/NCAA Division I national poll, including sixth-ranked Yale, #12 Boston College, #20 Villanova and #23 Boston University. BC (4th), Yale (7th), Brown (15th) and 'Nova (20th) all placed in the top 20 at last year's NCAA meet.
