East Lansing, Mich. - The Bowling Green men's soccer team will have to wait until Sunday to officially kick off its 2001 season after inclement weather forced officials to cancel Friday's match at Michigan State. The two teams played a scoreless first half before heavy rain and lightning forced the game to be cancelled at halftime.
The two teams will look to reschedule the game later in the season. No stats from today's game will count towards season totals.
"It was pretty even in the first half," BGSU coach Mel Mahler said about Friday's match. "We didn't play particularly bad, but we didn't play particularly good."
BGSU returns to action and attempts to get its first match in of the 2001 season this Sunday, Sept. 9, when the Falcons play at #13-ranked Ohio State. The match is scheduled to start at 2 p.m.
