Falcons Fall To Eastern Michigan In Series Opener

Papacek Continues Scoreless Streak With Three Relief Innings
YPSILANTI, Mich. – The Bowling Green State University baseball team began the weekend series against Eastern Michigan on Friday (May 1). The Falcons worked to score in the ninth, but the run came short of the deficit, ending in a 6-1 final. BGSU's run came on a TJ Takats single, scoring Andrew DiLodovico. The two will return to the field on Saturday (May 2) with a 3 p.m. start.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Falcons worked for the first baserunner of the game. TJ Takats drew a one-out walk in the top of the second before stealing second base. BGSU added the first hit of the game in the top of the third with a single from Lance Vickers.
- Ethan Stade sent down the first six Eagles he faced through the first two innings, but Eastern Michigan got into the hit column in the bottom of the third, leading to an unearned run later in the frame for a 1-0 score after three.
- After a scoreless fourth frame, EMU added four runs in the fifth for a 5-0 lead. The Eagles tacked on a run in the eighth for a 6-0 tally.
- In the top of the ninth, Andrew DiLodovico drew a walk and stole second. A single from Takats into center was enough to score DiLodovico for a 6-1 score.
