Buffalo Head Coach Jim Hofher:
"I'll tell you exactly what I just told our football team. It was a thorough defeat. We really did not win in any part of the game, offensively, defensively, or special teams. I thought Bowling Green's punter was absolutely fabulous. I thought our offense contributed greatly too poor field position all day. I thought our defense played valiantly when they had to defend a 10, 12 and 30 yard drive. Based on either turnovers or special teams. That's hard to stop even if you're a good defense, and we played far to long. That's the worst offensive performance I've seen in a long time, and I have to take as much responsibility as anyone, and maybe even more."
Did Bowling Green do anything special on defense?
"They did an excellent job on defense. They stayed with their plan and executed it very well. They brought as much pressure as expected, and executed it very well."
Talk about the punter (Pat Fleming). He had a great game last week against Missouri too.
"Well then, that's two weeks in a row. He's pretty good. He did a great job with hang time and distance. All I know is that we kept trotting on to the field way back in our own territory. Part of that was we never put ourselves far enough up the field.
Anything positive you can take out of a game like this?
"We are leaving here as healthy as we came, and that is always important with a football team."
Bowling Green Head Coach Urban Meyer:
"Our goal was simply to play hard and get interest back in Bowling Green State University with the student body, with the community, and with the way we act on and off of the field.
"The most important thing is that there has been a lot of support with the board of trustees, the president, from the student body, faculty, and our administration. That is a beautiful setting for our football team.
"As far as our football team I think that we have a very good defense. I think that we have a veteran defensive unit that believes in one another, that believes in the system, and that sticks together. There are three or four of our defensive lineman that could play anywhere in the country. We have excellent linebackers and I found out tonight that we are very deep at corner. Our safeties also played very well. You win with great defense.
"Next week we step into the ring with the big boys and my former boss, Coach Holtz, and I told my football team that change involves a lot of risk and discomfort, and they are going to be in a lot of discomfort and risk this coming week. Now we are 2-0 going into South Carolina. The stakes have just gotten that much higher. Hopefully we will come in Monday ready to work and be ready to face a top 25 team next week. I am intimidated going down to South Carolina. Lou Holtz is one of the five best coaches ever so I am intimidated.
"I think that Pat Fleming is a weapon. He is one of the most valuable players on our football team."
