BOWLING GREEN, Ohio -
BGSU HEAD COACH CURT MILLER:
"We put closer to a 40-minute game together today than we have all year. We're excited about our three-game home win streak. They (the players) feel confident about it. We've talked about the fact that we need to make Anderson Arena a tough place for people to come play. ... We've been in all five MAC games here.""It was nice to play the bench significant minutes and not have the intensity drop off."
"We wanted to play an up-tempo game today. Marshall's coming off two consecutive games where they've scored in the 30's. We wanted to get out and run, but in order to run, you have to rebound. We said, going into this game, that if we outrebounded Marshall, we would win. They came into the game as one of the leaders in rebounding margin in the conference, and we were dead last. Rebounding was going to help start that transition game that we so desperately wanted to play. To our credit, our kids went out and rebounded the ball, and we had a plus-nine margin today."
"We were going to play 40 minutes of zone tonight, we were not getting away from the zone. We were going to make them make threes and hit some jumpers. Obviously, (Ida) Dotson played a terrific first half and had 18 points. But, we made some minor adjustments, and she had just one field goal in the second half, so I feel like our kids really responded to those adjustments at the half."
"Our wings got us started. Stefanie (Wenzel) and Kim (Griech) combined for 29 points in the first half, and really hit their shots against both their man and their zone. Marshall, to their credit, kept changing defenses to try to confuse us, or to find one that would shut us down. But, those two really got us going, and that opened up the inside game in the second half, and allowed easier looks for the power forwards and the centers. The first-half performance, obviously, set the tone for the game."
MARSHALL HEAD COACH ROYCE CHADWICK:
"I thought Bowling Green did a very good job of taking us out of our rhythm early. We didn't shoot the ball at all well today, and that had a great deal to do with their 1-2-2 zone. They shot the ball very well when they really needed baskets, every time we'd make a run, they'd come back and hit a three. They did the things that they do well, and we didn't do a whole lot of things exceptionally well, and I think all the credit goes to Bowling Green.""We are not a great three-point shooting team. Three-of-eight from the three-point line is outstanding for us. It was a physical game inside, and we're not real physical. When you bump us on a shot, we have a hard time finishing it. I thought Bowling Green, on the other hand, when we bumped them, did a good job of finishing their shots. That's a strength factor, we kind of got outmuscled in the paint."
"I thought they did a great job on defense. They knew where we were at all times. The reason that we lost the game wasn't necessarily Marshall. It was that Bowling Green played great defense. They forced us to do the things that we did. Curt did a good job of getting his team ready to defend us, and they defended us very well. We tried to execute our offense, but their defense just kind of shut us down."
BGSU SOPHOMORE LINDSAY AUSTIN:
"I think we play best when we push the ball, drive and kick, and get our shooters open. It enables us to get some shots for our three-point shooters, and also helps our posts, too, by spreading the floor."
