BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - The Bowling Green State University cross country teams will travel to Delaware, Ohio, for Friday's (Oct. 11) All-Ohio Intercollegiate Cross Country Championships. The men's and women's teams of head coach Cami Wells will compete in the afternoon races, hosted by Ohio Wesleyan University. The races will be held at the Methodist Theological School.

For the Falcons, the race is one of the final chances to prepare for the Mid-American Conference Championships on Nov. 2, as well as a chance to see how BG stacks up against many of the state's institutions, including each of the other MAC schools from around Ohio. The meet is slated to include virtually every team in Ohio, from the NCAA Division I, II and III levels as well as the NAIA.
The men's race, 8,000 meters in length, is scheduled to begin at 2:00 p.m., followed by the women's race (5K) at 2:45 p.m. The men's open race will be held at 3:30 p.m., with the women's open race set for 4:15 p.m.
"After a one-year hiatus, we are excited to go back to Delaware for the All-Ohio Championships," said Wells. "Every MAC school in Ohio is scheduled to compete, so it will give us a good idea of where we are at, heading into the final few meets of the season."
Each school is allowed only seven runners in the scored races, so the remainder of the Falcon runners will compete in the open races. BGSU's men's squad has only eight members, but the Falcon women's team could have eight competitors in the open race.
"This meet will serve as the final determining factor for the top nine spots on the women's team," said Wells. "We are only allowed to run nine athletes at (the) conference (meet), so the athletes are all vying for a spot in the top nine in order to move on to compete in the final meets of the season."
Following the All-Ohio Championships, the Falcons will head to Alabama for the Auburn Invitational (Oct. 19), the final tune-up before the conference meet.
