Rothmund, Culp Again Pace Harriers

NOTRE DAME, Ind. - For the second consecutive race, Mario Rothmund and Amber Culp were the individual leaders for the Bowling Green State University cross country teams, as the Falcons competed at Friday's (Oct. 4) Notre Dame Invitational at the Burke Memorial Golf Course.
Rothmund, a senior on the men's team, placed second overall as the BGSU men posted a 19th-place finish in the Gold race. Culp, a junior for the Falcon women, was fourth among individuals, helping BG to a fourth-place finish, also in the Gold race.
The BGSU women posted a team score of 146, trailing only Ohio State (83), Notre Dame 'B' (90) and Northern Illinois (141) in the 16-team race.
In addition to Culp, Falcon competitors on the women's side included Nicola Viljoen (21st, 19:08), Nicole Suitor (22nd, 19:10), Melissa Krueger (46th, 19:36), Sarah Lohrbach (53rd, 19:46), Briana Killian (66th, 19:57), Cyndi Bostdorff (71st, 20:02), Katrina Kerns (93rd, 20:26) and Kristin Spicer (100th, 20:47). A total of 129 runners finished the 5K race.
On the men's side, the Falcons had a team score of 467 points in the 22-team, 8K race. Troy Stiles finished 90th (27:37), while Josh Stucky (120th, 28:12), Kris Lachowski (139th, 28:34), Ed Stonestreet (156th, 29:07), Steve Blasko (166th, 29:23) and Phil King (172nd, 29:43) also competed for the Brown and Orange.
Next up for the Falcon teams of head coach Cami Wells is the All Ohio Invitational, which will be held next Friday (Oct. 11) in Delaware, Ohio.
