BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - Megan Jerome is the Bowling Green State University Scholar-Athlete of the Week. Jerome, a senior on the BGSU women's basketball team, averaged 7.0 points, 6.5 rebounds and 4.0 assists as the Falcons split a pair of games to open the regular season last weekend.
Jerome, a native of Marion, Ohio (Pleasant H.S.), had eight points, four rebounds and three assists in 21 minutes off the bench in a narrow, 70-64 loss to Youngstown State Friday (Nov. 22). Then, she scored six points and set career bests in both rebounds (9) and assists (5) in an 81-62 win over Iona two days later.
A 'two' guard who practices at point guard very sparingly, Jerome spent time at the point guard position in both games, due to an injury to starting point guard Lindsay Austin. She is currently second on the team in both rebounds and assists, and is tied for second in assists (1.0 spg). Jerome went 10-for-12 (.833) from the free-throw line on th weekend.
Jerome, majoring in marketing and finance, has a 3.96 cumulative grade point average.
The Falcons of head coach Curt Miller will complete a season-opening three-game homestand with a contest against Butler on Wednesday, Dec. 4. That game will begin at 5:45 p.m. at Anderson Arena, with a men's game vs. Buffalo to follow.
