THE FALCONS' BIG TEN/SEC ROAD TOUR CONCLUDES
Saturday's game concludes a difficult stretch for BGSU. They faced tough road tests in visiting Northwestern, Michigan and now match-up with Alabama (December 14) in the Coors Classic in Mobile, Alabama. Alabama is 6-0 and ranked #4 in the nation. The Crimson Tide will be the highest ranked team BGSU has faced since taking on #1 Michigan State in December of 2000 at the Palace of Auburn Hills Michigan. South Alabama and Georgia State will play each other in the first game of Saturday's event.
FALCONS BATTLE INJURIES
With the season ending knee injury to Germain Fitch and a stress fracture in the left ankle of forward Josh Almanson, the Falcons will dress just seven scholarship players until late December, when Almanson could possibly return.
NETTER IS BETTER
Junior center Kevin Netter has emerged as the Falcons' go-to performer early this season. He had 20 points against Michigan on Wednesday night. He scored a career-high 36 points in the Falcons' win against Buffalo and followed that up with a 20-point, six-rebound effort against Northwestern. He is shooting 62.1 from the field and 77.5 from the free throw line and averages eight free throw attempts per game. He is averaging 23.8 points in the last four games.
REIMOLD IS NEEDED FROM THE OUTSIDE
Sophomore forward John Reimold, who was the MAAC Freshman of the Year for Loyola (Md.) in 2001, struggled against Michigan, but shot 81.3 from the field in the previous two games (13/16) and 76.9 (10/13) from three-point range. He had his best game as a Falcon when he scored 19 points and hit five-of-seven from three-point range. He followed that up with 17 points at Northwestern, including five of six from long distance.
MATTOX LOOKS IN CONTROL
Junior point guard Jabari Mattox has handled his transition into the starting lineup with ease. Mattox tied his career-best with seven points against Michigan and is third in the MAC in assists at 4.8 . Against Northwestern, he played all 40 minutes and hit his first career three-point shot with 36 seconds remaining to give BGSU a 60-59 lead. He is averaging a team-best 34.8 minutes per game.
