THE GAMES
The Bowling Green State University women's basketball team, after three home games to open the 2002-03 season, hits the road for the next six games, beginning with a pair of contests at the Radisson Suites Roundball Classic on Friday and Saturday (Dec. 6-7). Head coach Curt Miller's team will face host Florida Atlantic University in Friday (Nov. 6) action, with tipoff scheduled for 7:00 p.m. Then, the next evening, the Brown and Orange will meet either the University of Pittsburgh or the University of North Carolina at Wilmington. Saturday's (Nov. 7) games are slated to begin at 5:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. All games will be played at the FAU Gymnasium (5,000).
Upon the team's return north, BGSU will play road games at IPFW on Wednesday (Dec. 11) and Cleveland State (Saturday, Dec. 14). The Falcons' final pre-holiday action will be Dec. 21-22 at the Bearcat Invitational, hosted by Cincinnati.

ABOUT THE FALCONS
BGSU heads to Florida with a 1-2 record on the season ... most recently, the Falcons dropped a 61-54 decision to visiting Butler in Wednesday (Dec. 4) action ... senior Kim Griech had a team-high 14 points in that game, while senior Francine Miller had a double-double, with 13 points and 10 rebounds.
The Falcons opened the season with a 70-64 loss to Youngstown State (Nov. 22), but rebounded for an 81-62 win over Iona two days later (Nov. 24) ... Miller led the Brown and Orange with 16 points and eight rebounds in the YSU game, while Griech added 11 points and junior Stefanie Wenzel 10 ... freshman point guard Molly Martin, getting the start in her collegiate debut, had four points and seven assists in 21 minutes.
Against Iona, Miller again led the Falcons in scoring, with 25 points, while Wenzel added 20 ... Griech had 11 for the second-straight game, while senior Megan Jerome had six points and set career highs in rebounds (nine) and assists (five) ... Martin had six assists in the win.
Through three games, Miller leads the team in both scoring (18.0 ppg) and rebounding (8.3 ppg), while Griech is averaging 12.0 points per contest ... Wenzel has 11.0 points per outing, while Jerome has 6.3 points and ranks second on the team in both rebounding (4.7 rpg) and assists (3.3 apg) ... senior Karen Stocz has 5.7 points per game.
The Falcons are shooting .371 from the field through the first three games, to the opponents' .384 FG pct. ... the Falcons have made 17 three-point field goals and are shooting .288 from behind the arc ... but, the foes have made 26 treys and have a long-distance pct. of .413 ... the Brown and Orange converted 50 free throws to the foes' 25 over the first three contests ... BGSU is shooting .820 from the stripe, compared to just .472 for the opponents.
SCOUTING FLORIDA ATLANTIC
Florida Atlantic will enter Friday's BGSU game with a record of 0-4 on the season ... the Lady Owls have been idle since dropping an 83-57 decision to Louisville in the home opener Nov. 29 ... the team's other games have come against Georgia Southern (57-75; Nov. 22), American (69-92; Nov. 23) and LSU (55-88; Nov. 25) ... the first two games came in a tournament hosted by Mid-American Conference member Marshall ... senior forward Tamica Pierce leads the team in both scoring and rebounding, with 11.8 points and 7.8 rebounds per game ... junior F/C Trineca McCleod is second in scoring (9.0 ppg) and is third in rebounding (5.0 rpg) ... sophomore guard Angie Rodgers and junior F/C Jennifer Olson average 7.3 and 6.3 points, respectively ... head coach Chancellor Dugan has a record of 41-51 in her fourth year in Boca Raton ... she is 200-124 in her 12th season overall ... SCOUTING UNC WILMINGTON
UNC Wilmington brings an undefeated record into Friday's game with Pittsburgh ... the Seahawks have won three home games to open the season, including victories over Jacksonville (71-41; Nov. 29) and Furman (74-56; Nov. 30) at their own tournament last weekend ... the team's other win was a 54-49 verdict against South Carolina State (Nov. 23) ... junior guard Cherie Lea has a team-high 14.3 points per game, while both senior center Shameka Montgomery and sophomore guard Rachel Wojdowski are averaging 13.3 points ... junior guard Jennifer Kapper has 9.7 points and a team-best 3.3 assists, while junior forward Tracy Morgan has 5.3 points and leads the squad with 8.3 rebounds per outing ... Ann Hancock has a record of 28-33 in her third season as a head coach, all in Wilmington ... SCOUTING PITTSBURGH
Pittsburgh will bring a 3-1 record into the Radisson Suites Roundball Classic ... the Panthers fell from the ranks of the unbeaten Tuesday (Dec. 3), dropping a 62-60 decision at Duquesne ... Pitt's wins have come over Robert Morris (90-51; Nov. 22), Furman (75-45; Nov. 25) and Saint Francis (Pa.) (70-61; Nov. 27), with the first two contests coming at home ... individually, senior guard Laine Selwyn leads the team in scoring (14.5 ppg), rebounding (5.8 rpg), assists (6.0 apg) and steals (2.3 spg) ... senior guard Brooke Stewart has 13.8 points per game, while sophomore guard Amy Kunich has 12.8 points per outing ... head coach Traci Waites is 44-70 in her fifth year, all with the Panthers ... she has eight letterwinners, including four starters, back from last year's 8-19 squad ... that team went 3-13 in the Big East Conference ... the school's athletic web site is www.pittsburghpanthers.com.

FORMER FALCON AD YOUNG AT FAU HELM
Dr. Richard A. Young, a former BGSU Director of Athletics, is the Interim AD at Florida Atlantic University ... Young came to BGSU in 1959 as an assistant football and head baseball coach ... he compiled a 31-7 record in eight seasons as head coach of BG's freshman football team, and was the defensive backfield coach for the 1959 NCAA Small College Championship team under Doyt Perry ... he had a 12-year record of 184-146-6 as head baseball coach before starting his seven-year tenure as the Falcons' AD ... during that time, he oversaw the merger of the men's and women's athletic programs during the 1976-77 academic year ... Young, who received his doctor of philosophy degree in educational administration from BGSU in 1975, was inducted into BGSU's Athletic Hall of Fame in September of 2000.
MILLER MAKES HER MARK
Senior Francine Miller missed nearly all of last season due to injury, and still is not back to 100 percent ... but, her statistics over the first three games this year would make one believe she is totally healthy ... Miller has averaged 18.0 points and 8.3 rebounds in the first three contests ... she led the Falcons in scoring in each of the first two games, with 16 points vs. Youngstown State and 25 vs. Iona ... she paced the Brown and Orange in rebounding (eight) in the opener, and had seven more boards in the second game ... Miller added 13 points and a team-high 10 rebounds in the Butler contest ... she is shooting .462 (18-of-39) from the field, and is 13-of-15 from the free-throw line, including a perfect 9-for-9 effort in the Iona contest ... in that game, she scored 18 points in the second half.
AUSTIN MAKES HER RETURN...
The Falcons played the first two games of the year without starting point guard Lindsay Austin ... the junior suffered a sprained ankle in practice the day before the season opener (Nov. 21), and did not suit up for the YSU or IC contests ... Austin, who had played in all 57 of BGSU's games - starting 55 - over her first two seasons, returned for the Butler contest ... she had six points in just 10 minutes, going 3-of-4 from the field ... Austin also added a rebound, an assist, a steal and a blocked shot vs. BU.
LEWIS PROVIDES A SPARK
Sophomore Tene Lewis had one of the better games of her brief Falcon career in the Butler contest (Dec. 4) ... Lewis came off the bench to grab a career-high seven rebounds in just 16 minutes of action ... she also scored three points and had three steals -- just one off her career best -- vs. the Bulldogs.
